Yes. Coffee County has mandatory garbage collection. Please see the Solid Waste Enforcement page for details on the Alabama Code of Law.
New customers are required to pay $48.00 the day the new account is established. This amount is not a true “deposit” but will be applied to your quarterly bill for services.
As with any other public utility, the information we ask on the application form is due to collection and refund issues.
You will receive a bill at the beginning of the first month of each quarter (i.e. January, April, July, and October).
You may pay your bill online through our website, pay in person at the solid waste office in New Brockton, or you may mail in payment to the office.
Any accounts not paid in full by the last day of the billing months (January, April, July, and October) will result in a $3.00 per quarter late fee.
For residential customers, a garbage cart is provided by Coffee County Solid Waste. The cost of the carts is included in your bill.
Unfortunately, the garbage trucks are equipped with compactors to make room inside for multiple stops. Once items from your can are dumped into the garbage truck, there is no way to recover them.
At this time Coffee County Solid Waste does not pick up items left next to the road. We are only able to pick up items that can be placed in the garbage cans. Any bulky items that cannot be broken down to fit inside the can must be disposed of at the Coffee County Landfill.
Coffee County does not provide curbside recycling at this time. You may take recyclable materials to the landfill; however, you will be assessed the same fees as you would if it were nonrecyclable materials. The items you drop off would be taken to the Material Recovery Program located at the landfill to be processed for recycling.
For a complete list of acceptable waste and unacceptable waste, please visit the landfill’s Acceptable Waste page.
Not at this time.
The Coffee County Landfill is closed on New Year's Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Please call the Solid Waste office at (334) 894-6600 to report missed any pickups. We ask that you report pickups in a timely manner so that we can determine the cause of the missed pickup and send someone to collect the garbage if necessary.
